Business Analyst

Liquid Interactive is one of Brisbane’s most exciting independent digital experience agencies. We are hiring a passionate and highly-curious Business Analyst to meet the demands of our growing product delivery capabilities.

The purpose of the Business Analyst is to interrogate and synthesise information from clients and internal teams into detailed product and/or technical requirements that enable an efficient delivery process.

The role demands a thorough understanding of digital technology and product delivery methodologies combined with flexibility, pragmatism and maturity to find effective but often innovative and unorthodox solutions to suit the commercial requirements of our customers.

We work with clients in the education, health, and social sector, applying creative and technical expertise to produce digital products and strategic solutions that tackle complex problems.

The role will see you work in close collaboration with our multidisciplinary team including developers, designers, testers, data analysts, marketers, project managers and other external stakeholders.

At Liquid we genuinely embrace diversity in our team, which is why we deliberately look for T-shaped people—someone with a deep knowledge of their craft, but also other diverse interests. We recognise that your unique background and experience plays an important part of the team culture, ways of working, and ultimately meeting project outcomes.

Our main studio is based conveniently in Fortitude Valley, close to public transport.

Core responsibilities of the role:

  • Conduct interviews and workshops with customers, stakeholders and SMEs to understand and define as-is business processes

  • Produce business process maps or workflows
  • Work with a Product Owner to clarify scope and prioritise backlog
  •  Consult with designers, developers, testers and other team members to provide clarity on requirements and resolve uncertainties
  • Attend and contribute to project events and artefacts such as standup, sprint planning and sprint reporting
  • Support QA activities including writing and executing test cases, logging bugs and supporting triage
  • Extract, manipulate and analyse data, data sets and create data visualisations to support business cases or project recommendations

To be successful you'll need:
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or similar role.
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Understanding and experience in both Agile & Waterfall methodologies.
  • Very good knowledge and experience using the Atlassian tools, including JQL and reporting features.
  • Very good knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to multitask and work on more than one project/client.
  • Ability to work to timelines including deadlines, milestones and check-ins.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, specifically being able to listen, analyse and act on the needs of the team and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • An adaptable and experimentation mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and uncertainty, while striving to create clarity.

For bonus points (We don’t expect you to have all of them!):
  • Proven experience working against the Digital Transformation Agency’s recommended service design and delivery process
  • Experience defining requirements for products against WCAG Accessibility standards.
  • Experience or knowledge of BPMN practices.
  • Experience or knowledge of integration technology (APIs, XML etc)
