Business Analyst

Liquid is looking for a Business Analyst to join our team. Your role will see you interrogate and synthesise information from clients and internal teams into detailed product and/or technical requirements that enable an efficient delivery process.

As a Business Analyst, your role is critical and demands a thorough understanding of digital technology and product delivery methodologies combined with flexibility, pragmatism, and maturity in finding effective but often innovative and unorthodox solutions to suit the commercial requirements of our customers.

You will need to show a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or similar role, with knowledge of service design and product delivery in a digital environment.

Core responsibilities of the role:

  • Conduct interviews and workshops with customers, stakeholders and SMEs to understand and define as-is business processes.
  • Solicit and write product requirements including high-level business requirements, user stories, functional requirements, technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Produce business process maps or workflows.
  • Work with a Product Owner to clarify scope and prioritise backlog.
  • Consult with designers, developers, testers and other team members to provide clarity on requirements and resolve uncertainties.
  • Attend and contribute to project events and artefacts such as standup, sprint planning and sprint reporting.
  • Support QA activities including writing and executing test cases, logging bugs and supporting triage.
  • Extract, manipulate and analyse data, data sets and create data visualisations to support business cases or project recommendations. 

To be successful you'll need:

  • Understanding of the software development life cycle.
  • Understanding and experience in both Agile & Waterfall methodologies.
  • Very good knowledge and experience using the Atlassian tools, including JQL and reporting features.
  • Very good knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and work on more than one project/client.
  • Ability to work to timelines including deadlines, milestones and check-ins.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, specifically being able to listen, analyse and act on the needs of the team and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • An adaptable and experimentation mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and uncertainty, while striving to create clarity.

 

Advantageous, but not essential:

  • Proven experience working against the Digital Transformation Agency’s recommended service design and delivery process.
  • Experience defining requirements for products against WCAG Accessibility standards.
  • Experience or knowledge of BPMN practices.
  • Experience or knowledge of integration technology (APIs, XML etc).
  • Experience in a technical role (developer or tester) in a previous life.
  • Agile, Scrum, Lean or other Project Management certification.
  • Experience working with Sitecore.
  • Experience working with GovCMS or the Drupal platform.
